HOW DUFAY PLACE WORKS

Dufay Place comprises of three components to success:

1. Affordable Housing

The major issue with housing is not the availability as much as it is the affordability.  Dufay Place will be working with local pre- screened landlords and other agencies that will help provide affordable subsidized housing. These landlord partnerships will continue to increase the accessibility of clean, affordable, supportive housing options for young persons transitioning out of child welfare.

2. Individual Case Management

Each young person will be assigned a personal Case Manager. Together the duo will look at measurable goal planning and how to best execute these goals. The young person will have the opportunity to guide the conversation around what they think is important in their development and what they feel they need to successfully transition to independence.

3. Life skills Training

The lack of adequate life skills training has been attributed to young people feeling unprepared when they transition out of care.  Seeing this void, the life skills program offered by Dufay Place will not only be immediate but will also be placed strategically throughout each young person’s personal goal planning to ensure the needs of each young person is addressed.

These 3 components work together to support the successful transition to independence for the young person.
